El Club de Algodón nació en 1993, en la Ciudad de México, organizado por Laura Koestinger como un pretexto para cantar y tocar piezas que los acercaran a la experiencia del jazz y del blues desde adentro.
El Club del Algodón mantiene su afición juguetona, su compromiso de no tomarse nada demasiado en serio, su sabor de negrura jazz-blusera, su estilo simple. En sus primeros diez años fue banda de bares y teatros; más tarde brilló en festivales, como el Festival de Blues de El Chopo. La banda ha grabado dos discos con temas del repertorio que sigue disfrutando, con clásicos como “Nobody knows you when you’re down and out”, “Misty”, “Summertime”, “Autum leaves”, “Route 66”, entre otros.
