Des de l’aparició de l’agricultura i la ramaderia, durant el neolític, els humans han transformat el territori que hi havia al seu voltant.
Aquests canvis es varen intensificar durant l’edat mitjana i l’edat moderna, quan es varen començar a dessecar les zones inundades o a talar els boscos per convertir-los en zones de conreu, conreus que també han anat variant al llarg dels anys. Revisarem alguns d’aquests canvis en el paisatge produïts dins del terme de Cassà a partir de la documentació antiga de l’Arxiu Municipal.
